POST Greenland issues the last seven stamps of the year on 18th October

The issue of 18th October consists of seven stamps, one souvenir sheet, one Christmas stamp booklet, one souvenir folder, and the 2010 Year Pack. The stamps will also be issued on Maxicards and as First Day Covers.

Thule Trading Station Centenary
It is now 100 years since the Polar Researcher Knud Rasmussen had to make one of the most important decisions of his life: The establishing of his own private trading station at Thule in of the most northern parts of Greenland, an area that at the time was open to everyone. POST Greenland celebrates this anniversary by issuing a beautiful steel engraved stamp by Bertil Skov Jørgensen.

Greenlandic Mining

The brand new series "Greenlandic Mining" begins with two colourful offset stamps. With the stamp series depicting Greenlandic mining history - which will span over five to six years - it is the intention to give an understanding of this development, from the early hopeful attempts right up to the present day industry. The stamp series will begin with examples from the first mines, where mining was attempted on an industrial scale. This occurred some 150 years ago. Ina Rosing has created the beautiful art on the stamps.

The stamps are the first ones in Greenland to be issued entirely as self-adhesives.

Expeditions VIII
We continue the very popular expedition's series with two stamps. The acclaimed Expedition series by Martin Mörck, this time, pays tribute to the Briton John Ross and the Greenlander Hans Sakæus' common Arctic endeavours in 1818. The stamps come in normal sheets, a souvenir sheet, and a beautiful souvenir folder.

The 2010 Christmas stamps from POST Greenland have been designed by Nuka K. Godtfredsen who has designed four stamps for POST Greenland since 2007. Nuka was born in Narsaq in 1970 and is a trained graphic artist. In 2009 he released the first edition of the appraised comic album on Greenland's history - the album is called "First steps".

The stamps will also be issued as a stamp booklet with self-adhesive stamps.

The 2010 Year Pack
The long awaited 2010 Year Pack will be issued on 18th October, including all the beautiful stamps and souvenir sheets issued throughout the year.
